Understanding Internet Technologies and Privacy
Before reviewing this Privacy Policy, it’s helpful to understand some key concepts and terms that will clarify how Future Ahead Group and its clients use data to enhance your browsing experience and deliver more relevant advertisements.
- Ad Tags: Ad tags are snippets of code that enable online advertisements to be displayed in designated ad spaces on websites and within applications.
- Cookies: Cookies are small text files sent from a web server to a user’s computer when they visit a website. They can be read or modified by the domain that created them. Cookies help track user activity, such as the number of visits, time spent on pages, and navigation history. This data can enhance the user experience by remembering passwords, optimizing site performance, and tailoring advertisements. While cookies cannot access other data on your device or act as malware, you can configure your browser to manage cookie preferences. For more information, visit All About Cookies.
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII): PII refers to information that can uniquely identify or contact an individual, such as name, address, social security number, or email address. This is the standard definition used across the industry. Data that does not identify an individual is referred to as “non-PII.”
- Real-Time Bidding (RTB): RTB is a process for buying online or mobile ad space in real-time. Advertisers bid to display an ad to a specific user based on available data, usually measured by cost per thousand impressions (CPM). RTB allows for precise ad targeting through various data sources, including third-party providers.
- Web Beacons & Pixels: Web beacons are tiny code snippets that track activity on web pages, in apps, or within emails. They may be paired with invisible images or be standalone pixels, which are small, transparent graphics. These tools are used for purposes such as traffic reporting, visitor tracking, ad auditing, and personalization. Although web beacons and pixels typically collect anonymous data, some may gather PII, especially in email contexts. Future Ahead Group does not use beacons that collect PII and does not engage in direct marketing.
Understanding these technologies can help you better grasp how your data is used and managed while you browse the internet.
Future Ahead’s Services & Data Collection
We Do Not Collect Personally Identifiable Information
Future Ahead Group does not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) through our services. We strictly prohibit our clients from sending us PII and take all necessary precautions to prevent receiving such information. In the rare event that we receive PII from a client or inadvertently transmit PII to a third party, we will promptly take steps to remove it from our servers and records, and ensure that the third parties also delete the PII from their systems.
Use of Cookies and Web Beacons
We use cookies and web beacons for specific purposes. These tools help us track the delivery of advertising impressions to properly credit and invoice our Demand Partners. Cookies are also used to manage the frequency of ad exposure, helping meet our Demand Partners’ campaign goals, such as frequency capping.
Opt-Out Options
As part of our ad network operations, Future Ahead collaborates with various third-party ad platforms, known as Technology Partners. Some of these partners use cookies for behavioral targeting. For more information about opting out of these technologies, please visit World Privacy Forum’s cookie opt-out page or use the opt-out options provided by our third-party platforms.
Please be aware of the following regarding opt-outs:
- Opt-Out Does Not Block Ads: Opting out will stop you from receiving targeted ads, but you will still see non-targeted ads from Future Ahead’s ad network.
- Opt-Out Does Not Block Data Collection: Future Ahead will continue to collect data on your browsing activity to support our services, but this data will not be used for targeted ads or personalized content.
- Opt-Out Cookies: Opt-out preferences are saved using cookies on your device. If you delete these cookies, you will need to opt out again, as your previous opt-out status will be nullified.
- Duration of Opt-Out: Your opt-out choice remains valid for five years, in accordance with NAI guidelines. After this period, you may start seeing targeted ads again unless you opt out again.
- Browser Specificity: Opt-out settings are browser-specific. If you use multiple browsers, you must opt out on each one individually.
Opting Out Through The Network Advertising Initiative
You can opt out of receiving cookies from some third-party companies and other Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) compliant organizations by visiting NAI’s opt-out page. This page provides mechanisms to opt out of Non-PII data collection by various Demand Partners and internet companies, including third-party data providers. For details on how the NAI’s opt-out mechanism works, please refer to the FAQ section on their website.
